SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE


Simple Present Tense
1.      As Nominal

Formula:
( + ) S + To Be (is, am, are) + Non verb                           I → am
( – ) S + To Be (is, am, are) + not + Non verb                  He, She, It → is
( ? ) To Be (is, am, are) + S + Non verb + ?                     You, They, We → are

Examples

           1.      ( + ) He is a student                                        2.   ( + ) They are student
           ( – ) He is not a student                                         ( – ) They are not student
           ( ? ) Is he a student?                                              ( ? ) Are they student?

2.      As Verbal

Formula:
( + ) S + verb + s/es + O/C
( – ) S + do/does + not + verb + O/C
( ? ) Do/does + S + verb + O/C + ?

He, She, It → verb + s/es                                      He, She, It → does
I, You, They, We → verb without s/es                 I, You, They, We → do

Examples

           1.      ( + ) She opens the door                                 2.   ( + ) They play football
           2.      ( – ) She does not open the door                            ( – ) They do not play football
           3.      ( ? ) Does she open the door?                                ( ? ) Do they play football?

      a.       Adverb of time:
      Every morning/day/week/month/year, Once, twice, three times, four times
      b.      Adverb of frequency:
      Always, usually, sometimes, often, never, seldom
